Phobik – HATEPOP


Street artist Phobik displayed some of his recent artwork at the Stone Malone Gallery on Melrose.

I headed down there to check it out.

I was somewhat familiar with Phobik’s work especially his three-eyed devil, and from following him on Instagram, but now was my chance to see a variety of his work.

I definitely liked what I saw.

The art displayed at HATEPOP was dope, very colorful and vibrant. He painted on different mediums. He painted on canvases, spray cans, handsaws—which was dope—paint brushes, etc. I’m not going to lie. I was impressed with the handsaws. I wouldn’t mind owning one.

What I loved about his work was how it reminded me of the cartoon shows of my childhood. The blue Phobik God with his arms crossed reminded me of a cartoon villain. He could rival He-Man. He reminded me of Skeletor. But maybe it’s just me.
