“Everything is seeming so unfair, so unclear, trying to reach out no one’s there, four walls telling ‘em go run where no one cares”
The four walls that Joe is talking about is a metaphor for his head/mind. The four walls are a sign, a sign of feeling trapped, which one might feel when they are depressed.
When you’re depressed, you’re stuck. You try your best to get out of this “funk” but you cannot simply just “shake it off.” You need help but help isn’t there. You feel alone with just your thoughts. Those same thoughts cause you to spiral down, deeper and deeper into a depression state. It seems like you are running out of options—like the walls are closing in—you’re not sure what the next step is.
Joe feels like he’s trapped within himself. He’s so close to really fucking up, mentioning he’s running low on funds, and that he’s one beef away from being death—beef could reach a point where the other guy decides add a gun to the equation. He’s trying his best to withstand all his problems. His bills are just piling up and his energy is decreasing, he’s not sure he can do it.
He wishes he could reach out to someone but no one’s there. Its like his mind is taking him to a place where no one is willing to accompany him. Maybe that place is dark and contagious that people feel it will trap them or something worse.
He wants help. Since he isn’t receiving any aid, he hopes the least people could do is pray for him as he tries to get through these dark days.
