16 To Bring In ’16: Best Songs of 2015

walephone

It’s the final days before the new year and that means everyone and their mother will be doing their annual best of lists. Including me.

Here are my favorite songs of 2015.

Honorable mentions:

Jeezy – Grind State

The Jeezy we have come to love delivers a great intro to his album. His thug motivation continues and this song is a good example.

Joe Budden – Immortal

Joe’s been through so many hardships, is he human? Most of the trials he’s faced would’ve broken someone else but Joe has bounced back, maybe, he is in fact immortal.

Wale – The Pessimist feat. J Cole

Wale gets conscious and speaks on our present society.

  1. Dr. Dre – Talking To My Diary

This song should be on my list just for the fact that Dr. Dre dropped an album this year. This song sees Dre reflecting on his career as he readies himself to ride of into the sunset.

  1. Freddie Gibbs – Fuckin’ Up The Count

Gangsta Gibbs uses his rapid-fire flow to detail some gangsta shit.

  1. 50 Cent – Tryna Fuck Me Over feat. Post Malone

An odd combination that works well, Post delivers a dope verse. FYI, here’s what you should take away from the song: DON’T FUCK WITH FIFTY!

  1. Game – L.A. feat. Snoop Dogg & Will I Am/ Ty Dolla Sign – L.A. feat. Kendrick Lamar, Brandy & James Flauntleroy

These Los Angeles natives pay homage to their beautiful city/home. I couldn’t choose between the two, so here’s both.

  1. Pusha T – M.P.A. feat. Kanye West, ASAP Rocky & The Dream

Pusha hits us with three deadly vices that can control your life.

  1. Gunplay – Chain Smokin’ feat. Stalley & Currensy

Gunplay comes through and provides us with a chill, 420-friendly track with some help from some known weed smokers.

  1. Future – Rich $sex / 56 Nights / No Compadre / Colossal / The Percocet & Stripper Joint

I had to put some Future records here. I couldn’t just pick one…well, if I did…keep scrolling.

  1. Kanye West – All Day feat. Theophilus London, Allan Kingdom & Paul McCartney

Kanye surprised us and dropped this thunderous song that features an aggressive ‘Ye.

  1. Rae Sremmurd – This Could Be Us

Their album was dope. I don’t care what you say. This was one of the records I found myself replaying over and over again.

  1. Pusha T – Untouchable

Pusha is so fucking dope. He’s so fucking consistent (coming soon to a blog post near you.) His cocaine raps are too dope.

  1. Vince Staples – Senorita

Young Staples does it again. I said it last year and he delivered a dope album. This song is dope as it blends Staples gangsta raps with an eerie beat and Future’s rapid-fire raps.

  1. Game – Mula feat. Kanye West

That combination of Game and Kanye once again produces a dope record.

  1. Joe Budden – Love I’m Good

I already stated my thoughts on this dope record.

  1. Travis Scott – Maria, I’m Drunk feat. Justin Bieber & Young Thug

This song features a strange combination of artists but it works well. Justin’s adult verse was weird on paper but ended up being a dope feature. Thug is belligerent and hard to comprehend but he delivers an interesting verse that adds to the song.

  1. Future – March Madness

This song is fucking amazing. That’s all. After an incredible year of hits, this is Future’s biggest and greatest. This song gets replayed multiple times during a sitting.

  1. Wale – The God Smile

Wale delivers a great record from his dope album. He created a beautiful song that is uplifting. If you are down or even depress, throw this record on and let it fill you up.
